It is kind of embarrassing when a person hears a song you wrote about them and gets the wrong impression that you’re a really intense person, when in actuality you’re pretty normal, it’s just that singing something like “You’re all I’ve ever wanted” has a better ring to it than “You’re pretty cool and I like you enough to want to date you at least for a little while unless it doesn’t work out, which is totally fine.”

Awww, the Spinto Band… When I was in Eagle Winged Palace, we played a showcase with them at South by Southwest, and I gave one of the dudes a tarot card reading. “Oh!” I exclaimed. “You don’t always feel like your collaborators take your ideas seriously! Your girlfriend doesn’t really understand your career choices! You like to cuddle! You’re afraid of developing your solo project because you think your bandmates will hate you!”

…which I thought were pretty general blanket statements for skinny, fidgety bass players. I thought I was being super clever and funny and, naturally, that he’d get the joke; but it apparently freaked him out to the point where he inquired - via microphone - “Who’s been talking to the Hippy Tarot Girl about my life?“ Facepalm…

I’m super nervous about this radio phone interview thing I’m doing in 45 minutes. I’ve never been on the radio… well, not live, anyway. What if my phone dies? What if I accidentally say “fucking”? What if I forget my name, or can’t understand what the DJ is saying? What if he keeps me on for longer than like, ten seconds? Are these fears normal for someone anticipating her live on-air interview for a big radio station in a big city?

98.7 fm is apparently super cool, now.

Tonight, I’ll be a judge at Universal City Walk for 98.7’s Rockstar competition. The prizes are kinda rad - $10k, a bunch of gear, and… oh! Wait for it! Yep, a photo shoot at the Mansion with ~~ME! ME! ME!~~ “Gooseberries creator Sterling Andrews.“ Deadline for entry is Friday at 5pm, and if you tune in to 98.7fm at 7pm on Thursday, I’ll be yapping away about it on air.
